RESEARCH ASSISTANT II

SUMMARY

The Portland VA Research Foundation is recruiting for a full-time Research Assistant II in Dr. Aaron Janowsky's research laboratory. The research focuses on the pharmacology and neuroscience of neuropsychiatric disorders, including addiction.

The incumbent will possess independent problem-solving skills, a high level of reliability and self-motivation, established organizational skills (including data management), excellent interpersonal communication skills, and the ability to work in a complex laboratory environment with multiple individuals.

JOB DUTIES

  • Experience with receptor binding/second messenger systems
  • Ability to work with mice and their colony maintenance
  • DNA and RNA processing
  • CNS dissections
  • Statistical analysis
  • Experience with tissue

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in a life science
  • Major in biology, biochemistry, pharmacology, neuroscience, etc. (preferred)
  • 1+ years general lab experience (preferred)

LANGUAGE SKILLS

English

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

College Level

COMPUTER SKILLS

Proficiency with Microsoft Office

REASONING ABILITY

Strong critical thinking skills, information processing and problem solving
