The laboratory studies diseases affecting the hematopoietic system. Position duties include: quantitative PCR, bone analysis, retroviral vector construction and production, flow cytometry, ELISAs, basic mouse handling, and cell culture using both primary cells and cell lines. Additional duties include data analysis, laboratory management, interpersonal skills to work with collaborators, and train new laboratory personnel. .
Required: BA/BS in the biological sciences (or related field). Preferred: 1-3 year relevant experience in biomedical research including tissue culture techniques.
Schedule and Salary Range
1.0 FTE; Starting date between May 20 and June 3rd.
Funded through the Portland VA Research Foundation.
Occasional evening and weekend hours may be necessary.
Physical Demands & Equipment Usage
This includes the ability to 1) Lift and move laboratory supplies, 2) use of laboratory equipment 3) work with mice, and 4) the handling of potentially biohazardous and/or carcinogenic materials.
