Immunology Research Assistant II
Functions/Duties of Position
Perform cell culture, radioligand binding assays, second messenger system assays such as cyclic AMP assays, microscopy, occasional DNA, RNA and protein extraction, purification and analysis, western blotting, and qRT-PCR. General lab maintenance, solution preparation, occasional supply ordering.
Defined level of responsibility for position: Receives weekly supervision in performing experiments. Collects and analyzes data, and prepares reports. Innovation and problem solving required. Some experimental design/development/optimization as well as manuscript preparation and literature searches. Occasional evening and weekend involvement in conducting ongoing experiments. Participate in required laboratory and bio-safety training.
Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, biochemistry, microbiology, pharmacology or related field and 1 year of laboratory experience. Experience in cell culture, animal handling, immunohistochemistry, qRT-PCR, ELISAs and general laboratory skills preferred, as is the ability to operate standard biochemistry/molecular biology equipment.
