This position will entail assisting in the coordination and execution of multiple elements in human subjects research and standard of care within the VA Portland Health Care System (VAPORHCS) Precision Oncology Program for Cancer Prostate (POPCaP), with primary emphasis on regulatory maintenance of trials. Duties include regulatory compliance, data quality, and other approved enhancements of research efforts. Flexibility, time management, customer service, and a team-based aptitude are key.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with principal investigators, sponsors, study team members as well as representatives in other departments and institutions while maintaining open communication.

  • Works with lead regulatory staff to support regulatory activities for all stages of clinical trials
  • Prepares and submits regulatory documents to Sponsor and IRB
  • Works with clinical research team to ensure submission documents are up-to-date.
  • Coordinate notifications to study team members regarding annual regulatory education requirements
  • Maintain master files of all regulatory-related documents
  • Assist with preparation of internal and external audits
  • Maintain a working knowledge of federal, state, and institutional guidelines that govern clinical trials
  • Coordinate schedules of on-site visits including introductions, tours and Sponsor/CRO requests, and monitoring visits
  • Attend research coordinator educational opportunities
  • Serve as a liaison to Sponsors/CRO/IRB/Investigators assuring continuity of service and problem resolution
  • Assists with study start-up activities to include reporting and communicating with stakeholders on a regular basis

-Bachelor's degree in relevant field or equivalent combination of training and experience;

-Previous experience with human subjects' research preferred


Clear written and oral communication in English with Veterans of all backgrounds


Basic proficiency with: MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, MS Access, Outlook


Able to use critical thinking skills to make decisions that are within scope, and to recognize when decisions are out of scope.
